Barbeque Kitchen

Kamloops, BC

After leaving the Moon Wok because they did not have a high chair, we made a last minute decision to try the Barbeque Kitchen as we were still very much wanting Chinese food on this night.  I left the family in the vehicle and walked into the empty Barbeque Kitchen to check out their menu but most importantly to check to see whether they had a high chair for my youngest daughter.  Hallelujah, they have high chairs at the Barbeque Kitchen!!!!

The Barbeque Kitchen is a small restaurant, with next to no decor.  The walls were bare and the tables and chairs were quite dated but the restaurant was very clean.   I think the overall decor of the Barbeque Kitchen could be improved with the addition of a few Chinese Paintings and ornaments.   But we are here for the food!!

Their menu is very extensive and consisted of a good mix of the usual North American Chinese food and the not so common more authentic dishes.  Their hot pots caught our eye and we ordered the Spicy Szechuan Chicken Hot Pot and their Special Hot Pot with Fried Bean Cakes (aka Tofu).  The kids got their ever favorite BBQ Pork Chow Mein and we also ordered a large bowl of white rice.

We loved their hot pots.  We were very surprised with the Special Hot Pot as we were not expecting the Prawns, BBQ Pork, and Beef to accompany the medley of Chinese Greens and Tofu.  The Szechuan Chicken Hot Pot contained boneless chicken pieces and vegetables.  The Hot Pots were very tasty and perfectly cooked and seasoned.  The BBQ Pork Chow Mein was excellent too.

With this visit to the Barbeque Kitchen, I think it is safe to say that we have found another restaurant to proclaim it as one of our favorite Chinese Restaurants in Kamloops.
