Beijing Restaurant

Kamloops, BC

Kamloops newest Chinese Restaurant isn’t really new to Kamloops and let me explain what I mean.  Except for the location (at the Maverick Inn across from the Aberdeen Mall), The New Beijing Restaurant is actually run by the previous owners of the Shanghai Mandarin Restaurant.   We dropped by today to try their lunch buffet and we were greeted by a familiar staff and a very familiar lunch buffet.  Yes, exactly the same selection of food items that made the Shanghai Mandarin the most busiest restaurant in Kamloops.  I would have liked to have seen something different, but I understand why the owners of the new Beijing Restaurant chose to copy their own past recipe for success.

We really liked the renovations done to convert the old Mirage Restaurant into a very nice clean modern Chinese Restaurant.  The walls are freshly painted grey and a red feature wall highlights the area where the buffet is setup as the focal point of this restaurant.  Along with the magnificent view of our city, in our opinion, this has to be the nicest Chinese Restaurant in Kamloops.  It can only get better at night time so our next visit will have to be for dinner.   As for the food, no complaints about it and we expected it to be good and we were not disappointed.  Only time will tell if the fans of the owner’s former restaurant will follow them to their new restaurant and make it as successful as their previous venture.
