Denny’s

Columbia Street, Kamloops, BC

We were in the mood for breakfast even though it was more like lunch time for most people.  Where in Kamloops (or in most places in Canada and the USA) can you get breakfast at any hour of the day?  You are right, if you guessed Denny’s.  The Denny’s on Columbia Street was our destination for breakfast.  It so happened to be my wife’s birthday and Denny’s offers a free Grand Slam Breakfast to anyone celebrating a birthday (show your driver’s license to prove your birthday).  You get to choose 4 items from list that include pancakes, bacon, eggs, hash browns, grits and sausages.  As for me, I arrived there wanting to order Eggs Benedict and I had four kinds (Prime Rib, Country, Salsa Sensation and Classic) to choose from and I ordered the Prime Rib Eggs Benedict.  Most people that follow my blog know that I love egg benedicts and prime rib so when given a chance to combine the two into one meal, I had to do it.

There was nothing special about the place or the food but it meets my expectations for a Denny’s location.  For someone wanting breakfast outside the regular breakfast hours, this place will serve its purpose.  But now in Kamloops, we have more choice since the opening of Cora’s Breakfast and Lunch.  But they are not open when you want breakfast in the wee hours of the morning after a pub and club crawl.  For that, you can go to Denny’s!!

One more tip: Sign up for Denny’s Advantage Rewards for free.  For every 200 points you accumulate, you will automatically receive a $10 loyalty certificate to redeem at Denny’s. You earn 1 point for every dollar spent at Denny’s.  You can also download an iphone app from itunes to input their Denny’s Advantage Rewards membership number. Whenever you are at Denny’s, show your server your membership number stored in the iphone app, so there’s no need to carry your membership card in your wallet when you have your iPhone!   I love it, I just wish more companies would follow suit and have their rewards programs built into an iphone app.
