Hello Toast

Kamloops, BC

We have walked past Hello Toast so many times but have never ventured inside until today.    A member on my Facebook Page had commented that he was surprised that I had never eaten at Hello Toast so we made it a point to pay a visit for lunch.

We had one hour to eat as that was what we paid the new parking meters in downtown Kamloops.  As always, the place was packed but we were able to find a table quite easily.  When we saw the restaurant busy, we couldn’t help wonder if we were going to be able to get away in time before our parking time expires.  We were about to find out.

The menu at Hello Toast contained something for everyone, ranging from Breakfast, Soups, Sandwiches, Burgers to Rice Bowls.  The eye-catching specials board is quite a piece of art.  You can also find their Daily Specials online at their Facebook Page but it is not as fun as checking out their board.

But after all that, we ordered from their menu.  I ordered the Coco Chicken Curry Bowl with Brown Rice.  My beautiful iLove2Shop felt like having a soup as a meal so she ordered the appropriately named Soup as a Meal.  She picked the African Yam Peanut which was accompanied by Sun Dried Tomato and Asiago Cheese wraps for dipping.

In the Coco Chicken Curry Bowl, a generous portion of succulent chicken pieces cooked in a coconut curry broth that was delicious, creamy and spicy enough for my taste buds.  I especially appreciated that the carrots, jicama and peppers were crunchy and not overcooked.   I don’t usually eat a lot of brown rice but I’m starting to think that I should order them more as it is more healthier than white rice.   The African Yam Peanut soup was satisfying rich, creamy in texture and was just the warm comforting lunch needed for a cold winter Kamloops day in February.  This combination of sweet and spicy was just right.

It took us a long time to check out Hello Toast but won’t be long before we return as this place has caught our attention.  I saw someone eating the Eggs Benny special and for that alone, I’ll be back.  If anyone cares to know, we had 20 minutes to spare on our parking so all our worries were unwarranted as the service was fast and friendly.
