Terra Restaurant

Kamloops, BC

Yet another new restaurant and the perfect downtown location for a healthy but tasty business lunch.  Terra Restaurant has replaced the former Bistro 326 and I was informed by the server that it is run by a chef that has worked at the Delta Sun Peaks Hotel and the Brownstone Restaurant.  Terra Restaurant also claims to use ingredients from local farms which makes me happy to know that my food did not travel thousands of miles to end up on my lunch plate.

Their lunch menu contains only a few items but enough to make a choice.  I also liked that the lunch side options was soup or salad only as opposed to the usual french fries.  I am always looking for an excuse to eat healthy.  I had the lamb burger with pulled pork lentil soup.  The lamb was sourced from Dominion Creek Ranch and it tasted just as good as any lamb from New Zealand.  The accompanying pulled pork lentil soup was delicious, just my kind of comfort food.  We loved our food so much that we even ordered dessert and it too, didn’t dissapoint!

I would like to say a few words about the decor.  Terra Restaurant is an immaculate restaurant with cream colored stone top tables contrasted with an eye-catching red feature wall, and a square room designed with modern and earthy tones.  They built a very nice wooden bar in front of this red feature wall with bar stools.  They have good taste when it comes to chairs.  I loved the dark brown leather chairs as we have the exact same chairs at home.  However, I thought there was something unfinished about the side walls.  It looked very bare, bland and boring and all of us at our table agreed that the overall decor was negatively affected by these walls.

While the boring decor skewed my first impression of Terra Restaurant, the place was packed during lunch time, and overall, a very good place to enjoy a healthy meal and sample some of our fine local seasonal ingredients at the same time.
